Privacy Policy

The short version

TrainThinking is a static website. We do not ask you to create an account, and we do not collect names, emails, or any personal information to use the tools. Your test answers are processed entirely in your own browser and are never sent to us.

Visitors outside Europe are also counted with Google Analytics 4 (see Analytics).

Test data

When you take the critical thinking test, all scoring happens locally on your device. The only thing stored is your best score percentage, saved in your browser's localStorage so you can see your progress. You can clear it at any time through your browser settings. We never receive this value.

Analytics

We use Cloudflare Web Analytics, a privacy-first, cookieless analytics service. It records aggregate page-view statistics without fingerprinting visitors or storing personal data.

Alongside it we run Umami, an open-source analytics tool, on our own server at analytics.balmac.ch. It is cookieless too: it counts page views and referrers in aggregate, stores no cookies and no identifiers that single you out, and the data stays on infrastructure we control rather than being passed to a third-party advertising company.

We also use Google Analytics 4, a service of Google LLC (USA; Google Ireland Limited for visitors in the EU and UK), to understand how the tests and articles are used. It sets first-party cookies (_ga, _ga_*) and sends usage data to Google: pages viewed, time on page, referring site, device, browser, language and an approximate location that Google derives from your IP address. Advertising features and data sharing are switched off; data is kept for 14 months. If we apply to an advertising network (currently Mediavine), it gets read access to these aggregated reports to review the site.

Google Analytics loads only for visitors whose device is set to a time zone outside Europe and whose browser sends no Global Privacy Control signal; visitors in the EU, EEA, UK and Switzerland are not measured by it. That is why this site shows no consent banner. You can also opt out with Google's browser add-on.

Advertising

This site does not currently display advertising. If that changes, this policy will be updated to disclose the ad network and your choices regarding personalised ads.
